About Lawson & Lovell
Founders John Lawson and Phil Lovell were both born on the northern beaches and have lived there all of their lives. A number of their team also grew up in the area and like John and Phil, are familiar with the nuances of Sydney’s north.
For example, they know the moisture content of some popular timbers are not suited to the coastal suburbs, due to the salt and moisture content in the prevailing winds. They will advise clients of the best choice of timber for the environmental conditions of the build, and work closely with architects in the process.

As Phil Lovell says, “We guarantee all our work, so have a strict hiring policy to ensure we only recruit experienced tradespeople and contractors to work with us. If we don’t have the crew available due to existing project commitments, we will not take on a job just for the sake of it. Our reputation is only as good as our last job, so we make sure we have the best people in the market working for our clients.”
All projects involve regular work-in-progress meetings with the client, architect and any other relevant suppliers involved at the time. These meetings help keep the build on track, solve any problems, speed up the decision-making process and are documented for reference by all parties. This ensures decisions are not taken, or work carried out, without approval and the project stays on time and on budget.

The company also invests heavily in the professional development of its team to ensure they are familiar with the latest technologies, tools and techniques. Many of the team’s families regularly socialise together, furthering the bond between them.
The Project Manager ensures all nearby neighbours are kept up to date on the build, and go that extra mile to make neighbours aware of site activity such as when street access will be restricted or noise might be a concern.
