{"id":2365,"date":"2016-11-11T03:26:01","date_gmt":"2016-11-11T03:26:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/northernbeachesbuilders.com.au\/?p=2365"},"modified":"2024-01-29T21:47:00","modified_gmt":"2024-01-29T21:47:00","slug":"mosman-daily-november-2016-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northernbeachesbuilders.com.au\/mosman-daily-november-2016-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Mosman Daily &#8211; November 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A MOSMAN family home 15 years in the making has won a major Housing Industry Association award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The striking house, near Rosherville Reserve and Chinamans Beach, won the HIA NSW Custom Built Home $1m to $2.5m award this month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Judges said the beautifully-designed home showed great attention to detail throughout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe house shows brilliant workmanship and construction with a seamless design with simple and modern finishes showing the difficulty in construction,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The property is a year old and took about 18 months to build.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"488\" src=\"https:\/\/northernbeachesbuilders.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/daily-telegraph-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2369\" srcset=\"https:\/\/northernbeachesbuilders.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/daily-telegraph-1.jpg 650w, https:\/\/northernbeachesbuilders.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/daily-telegraph-1-480x360.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 650px, 100vw\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The builder was Lawson and Lovell Building Services. Architects Fitzpatrick and Partners did the concept design and Watershed did the development application and detailed design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The three-level property includes four bedrooms, a rumpus room, garage, outdoor entertainment area which flows from the indoor living space and water views from the upper level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The swimming pool even has a clear panel which doubles as a safety and design feature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"1000\" src=\"https:\/\/northernbeachesbuilders.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/daily-telegraph-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2368\" srcset=\"https:\/\/northernbeachesbuilders.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/daily-telegraph-2.jpg 650w, https:\/\/northernbeachesbuilders.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/daily-telegraph-2-480x738.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 650px, 100vw\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Homeowners Tina Tang and John Andrews, who have both worked as architects, had a lot of input into their dream home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The couple bought the previous house on the site, where the family lived for about 15 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ms Tang said they considered renovating but in the end decided that a demolition and rebuild would best achieve their goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe house is modern, contemporary and open plan with high ceiling spaces,\u201d she said. \u201cIt allows a lot of natural light in, particularly northern light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"488\" src=\"https:\/\/northernbeachesbuilders.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/daily-telegraph-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2367\" srcset=\"https:\/\/northernbeachesbuilders.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/daily-telegraph-3.jpg 650w, https:\/\/northernbeachesbuilders.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/daily-telegraph-3-480x360.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 650px, 100vw\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt takes on-board the principles of good design, maximising solar access. It has good shading to the west and south.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSpaces flow well and it\u2019s very well built. The builders put a lot of care and passion into the build; they did a really good job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe knew our house was special, but of course it\u2019s always really an honour and a great surprise to win.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ms Tang said her son, 15, and daughter, 20, also loved their new home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know if it\u2019s such a good thing having built our dream home now, because I don\u2019t know when they will be leaving,\u201d she laughed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI think the best thing they love is the fact that they have huge bedrooms and their own bathrooms.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A MOSMAN family home 15 years in the making has won a major Housing Industry Association award.
