Onyx Road, Artarmon

Architect: Mass Designs, Michael Sweeney

The Artarmon project consisted of an extension to the back and side of the building.

A ‘lazy S’ curved bi folding door was made to open the living area onto the external area, providing an entertaining area that opened up the rear of the home. Lawson and Lovell also won an award for the Storm Tech drain that was especially manufactured to follow the curved sill of the doors. Three skylights provide solar access, as does the operable louvres over the external deck. A new open-plan kitchen also enhances the entertaining area.

A new laundry, bathroom and master Ensuite were also provided downstairs. Some existing roof lines were changed to enhance the outlook.

Landscaping including travertine tiles around the pool, were also done, as well as levelling the floor of the garage and providing travertine so that this room is readily available as a games room.

The front veranda was installed and provides a covered area for a rainwater storage tank, and storage area.

The upper level of the property saw bedrooms reconfigured and extended to provide extra room. Extra features include iron worked handrails.
